Creighton brings in McDermott as men's hoops coach

Omaha, NE (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Creighton University hired Greg McDermott as its
new men's head basketball coach on Monday.
McDermott, who will be officially introduced at a Tuesday morning press
conference, takes over for Dana Altman, who was named men's hoops coach at
Oregon earlier Monday.
The 45-year-old spent four seasons as head coach of the Cyclones, going 15-17
a year ago with a 4-12 record in the Big 12, and was 59-68 overall since
arriving in Ames in 2006.
McDermott will be returning to the Missouri Valley Conference, as he had been
at the helm of Northern Iowa's program from 2001 until 2006. While there, he
piloted the Panthers to a 90-63 record which included a 49-41 mark in the MVC
along with three NCAA Tournament berths.
Since breaking into the coaching ranks in 1994-95, McDermott has compiled a
280-195 record at Wayne State (1994-00), North Dakota State (2000-01),
Northern Iowa and Iowa State.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska running back Marlon Lucky was hospitalized Monday for undisclosed reasons after Lincoln police responded to a call at his residence.
The Nebraska athletic department said in a release Monday that Lucky was admitted Sunday night.
